Charnwood Community Hero

Our very own Joyce Snewin, who has been a regular at our church for over 50 years, was recently recognised for her work with the Loughborough Street Pastors.  Joyce has been a Street Pastor for over 15 years, regularly going out on a Saturday night to help the vulnerable and the revellers out for a night out.  Well done Joyce and many congratulations on your recognition award.

Ladies Circle Diamond Anniversary

2024 sees the Diamond Anniversary of our Ladies Circle Group and members past and present came to a special celebration event on Saturday 12 October.

The group started in 1964 and over the years have raised thousands of pounds for charity and for our church, whilst enjoying various activities and sharing in fellowship together. We remember those of our group who are no longer with us as we enjoy the celebration.

Here is the group in 1984, celebrating the 20 year anniversary with our Minister at time Rev Bill H Anderson.

Ladies Circle Fundraising

Every year, our Ladies Circle Group choose a charity for fundraising and this past year raised an amazing £770 for the Royal Papworth Charity which was their chosen Charity for 2023/2024. The cheque was presented to the charity at the hospital in August, and was chosen after a family member of one of the long-standing Ladies Circle members underwent a successful transplant operation in 2023.  The charity for 2024/2025 is the Street Pastors.

Ride & Stride

Ride+Stride is a sponsored bike ride or walk in which people all over England walk or cycle between churches, exploring and enjoying the countryside from Cornwall to Northumberland.

The money they raise helps to save historic churches, chapels and meeting houses for future generations by helping to fund urgent repairs and the installation of modern facilities. Each year the event raises over £1 million pounds to help fund urgent repairs to historic churches and chapels.

Leicestershire Historic Churches Trust organise the Leicestershire Ride & Stride and our Church were very fortunate to receive a grant towards our current redevelopment project.
